Sabbatical September and October

It's not really a sabbatical. I just don't know what else to call it. Nobody is paying me, but there will be personal and professional development. What makes it not a sabbatical is, I am happy to work a few hours per week over zoom.
I am doing some volunteering at Chenrezig, a Buddhist temple on the Sunshine Coast in Australia. There is another volunteer opportunity in Bali, but I won't decide whether I do that or not until I get there. Believe it or not, I have a friend who will be in Bali for the last few days I am there and the Buddhist community was recommended by two friends that don't know each other.
If you have known me for any length of time, you know travel has been a big part of my life since I was in my early 20's. But longer ago than that even, when I was 6 years old in 1978, my father took a truck and converted it into a sleeping / traveling SUV type situation (before that was even a thing) and my family spent a whole summer driving across the US, living in this vehicle and in a hotel in LA for a while when my dad went to school. I vividly remember my connection to the different lands even as a child.
Travel is part of who I am. I have visited four other continents so far and been all over this one a few times.
I haven't been anywhere different since 2019, and I just don't feel right.
I am at an interesting point in my life. No longer a full time mom, my house is under contract, no houses to buy that would serve my desire to start a community, no tether to any humans that can't live without me for a few months.
There is no better time to go around the world. It doesn't necessarily make sense, but it can only be wonderful.
I made a decision when I was 28 years old. I would fully live while I was alive. I chose to date and eventually marry an English man who lived in London. I had just opened a hair salon, but I would take an extraordinary amount of time off work. I would not wait for retirement or some magical season to see the world and experience everything life had to offer.
Having tumors in my liver two years ago only confirmed that for me, the only way to live is to take the opportunities as they arise. Having that time in Hawaii made me realize that a one month stint really helps you get to know a place, the land and a few of the humans who live there.
I will spend a month in Indonesia, and then I will spend a month in Australia.
Before I leave we have six weeks together here in Birmingham. If you need a private session, or a small package of sessions, reach out soon. You can reply to this email, send me a text or book online here
While I am away I will offer a few zoom sessions a week. If you are already on zoom, we will probably have to adjust the time we work.
If you are usually in person, know that in the past people have been surprised at how much It feels like I am in the room. Energy is real, intelligent and super supportive regardless of our locations. My sessions from Hawaii and from Sedona, the people FEEL the energy of the land I am on. It Is truly magical. As you know, I am an excellent conduit and that is part of my gift.
I am working to get my classes covered so you can have meditation and sound in our space at the same times. I love how the community is growing and I don't want you all to go without it. I will keep you posted in the next few weeks for more of these details.
Wednesday evening gathering this week is already full. It filled on Sunday. If you want in class either Monday or Wednesday, you have to reserve your space. These have become very popular. Click this link and scroll down for Monday or Wednesday. You can also send a text or email sheribagwell@me.com
Friday Evening Meditation in the sanctuary
Since the classes have been filling and I am turning people away every week, I have decided to offer a class on Friday. We will see how this goes and if it also becomes popular, we will do them every other week until I leave town.
You don't have to reserve a space. This is donation based. There will be no beverage. I will have a few yoga mats, blankets and bolsters, but feel free to bring your own mat or anything else you need to be comfortable to lie on the floor. It is carpeted and quite comfortable.
So much love and appreciation for you and your dedication to your growth
Thank you for loving and supporting me
Sheri
