Spoon and Ladle may only keep this part of the service around for a little while longer, but I think you should give it a try.  Monty is a classically trained chef who got fed up with the hours in a restaurant kitchen.  He loves to cook and has a knack with combining ingredients to make the most delicious anything.  He settled on soup when his wife came up with the name Spoon and Ladle.  He created a Facebook page and had several orders before he even had the soup made or ingredients to make it.  Now only two short years later he has a growing business.

Soup is a great way to round out a meal or you can even make it the meal.  It is a great way to get extra veggies into your diet as well.

Last week we had asparagus and leek soup.  This week we have tried two, Italian wedding and tomato florentine.  They both sold out at the market this weekend and I know why.  This is good stuff.

I first found Monty at the Pepper Place Farmer’s Market  this year.  I tasted all the varieties he made that were gluten and dairy free.  They were all delicious.  Then I found out he will deliver them to your door for the very same price during the week!

Every week he makes at least 5 varieties of soup.  He makes all different kinds making sure to have some that are gluten and dairy free.  He uses local produce from the farmer markets, gets his meat from the cajun cleaver and you can tell he crafts his soup with love.

You can find Spoon and Ladle at Pepper place market on Saturday mornings.  He sells at the Cajun Cleaver, Andy’s market and Murphy’s.  Soon you will find him in Western Markets and other grocery stores that promote local products.  Once he is fully licensed to sell at the larger grocery stores he may stop the delivery service, so get on his route now and maybe he will find a way to keep it up.

You can get on his email list to find out what soups he is making on which day to line up your dinner plans for the week.  Go to spoonandladle.com to get on his list to find out the varieties he will make each week.  You can always go down to the Pepper Place Market on Saturday morning if you want to taste them before you buy them.  Once you taste, you are hooked.

As we head into fall tell me what your favorite soups are.  Please tell me if you have any other healthy food option delivered or not in Birmingham.  I am always on the look out for good food and making things easier now that I am working outside the house more.
