Fennel, Lemon and Apple Green Juice
Here is a very different juice that tastes delicious and has wonderful anti inflammatory properties. It is very good for the digestive and immune system, cleanses the liver and whole body, builds the blood and so much more.
Fennel is one of those vegetables that is in season now, has a crisp taste and texture and is so good for you. Fennel is highly anti inflammatory and has cleansing properties for your kidneys. You will be very surprised to see how much juice it produces. It is a great addition to a summer salad. I also like it cooked, but I do that more in the fall or winter. It pairs very well with citrus and has a slightly licorice taste. So, even if you don’t juice it, and you have inflammation (pain or disease of any kind) please try to include it in your diet another way.
Lemon is very good for the digestive track, it is alkaline forming (prevents cancer) and cleanses the liver. It is good for your skin, urinary track, has loads of potassium and vitamin C.
Apple is also very good for the digestive track, but I use it as much for taste.
You can use spinach or kale in this juice recipe. I have tried it with both and it tastes just as good either way. They are both high in chlorophyll which is excellent for bringing oxygen (the great equalizer) to the blood. They are both included in many detox diets because of their ability to cleanse the system. Kale is part of the cruciferous vegetable family and that means it has the capability of removing excess estrogen from your system. Anyone with PMS, endometriosis, or cysts in the breasts or on their ovaries will benefit from consuming cruciferous vegetables. Kale is high in vitamin C, vitamin K, vitamin A, beta carotene, manganese, and lutein. They are both good sources of calcium, potassium, vitamin B6, iron, and copper.
For this fennel, lemon and apple green juice recipe you will need:
1 fennel bulb with fronds
1 or 2 lemons (depending on how much you like the taste of fennel) I liked it better with 1 lemon. Iain liked it better with 2 lemons.
2-3 stalks of kale or 4 handfuls of spinach.
This makes 2 servings. If you are only juicing for 1 person, you may put the left over juice in a jar with a tight fitting lid to consume later or the next day. I love to start my day with a fresh green juice or green smoothie.
